Animated General

General information[]

Generals were added 19th Nov 2012 together with the associated building, General's Quarters. They do not need to be trained. After being killed in a battle, you still gain Skill Points (SP), and they can be used in a next battle without any penalty. As well, SP are gained even if a General is not sent into battle.

When the General's Quarters was originally deployed they did not have Levels like other Troops on Edgeworld, though they did have some Attributes (not to be confused with Abilities) similar to what an Item with Levels should have. In Feb 2013 the Generals were given Levels that can be upgraded by adding General's Orders. Later Kabam added the feature that Generals over L9 can be deployed together.

What happens when a general defeats a base by itself.

  The Generals can join you in Battle. When killed they regenerate fast and are available by the next Warp. The General's hotkey is "`", also called a grave accent. This key is the same as the tilde (unshifted), above "Tab", and left of "1". However, most non-American keyboards bear a different character associated with that key, and as such, it does not work as intended.

Each General has three Basic Skills (Boosts) and two Active Skills available. These Skills each operate at the Level that they are upgraded to and can each can have a different Level limited by the Level of your General's Quarters.

A General can be chosen before the attack is initiated (you hit the Warp "A" or "B" Button), if one is not chosen then you can only chose to deploy General Strom. You do not have to deploy the General but since the Troop only takes one Warp Slot and is quite powerful it almost always makes sense to deploy the General. Due to the current General's slow movement and the limited usability of his Active Skills (unless you pay a high price to upgrade them above Level 10) it make the most sense to deploy the General first to maximize his usefulness.

The Basic Skills work on all your Troops sent into Battle, whether the General is deployed or not.

The Active Skills only operate if the General is deployed. When an Active Skill is used there is a "Cooldown Period Timer" that prevents that Skill from being reused immediately. Deploying the General before any other Troops means that you can activate an Active Skill sooner and thus run the Cooldown Period Timer sooner; that means you might get more uses out of the Active Skills than if you were to wait until the Battle was partially over before deploying the General.

Skill Points[]

Skill Points (SP) are awarded, upon winning a PvP, battle based on a formula derived from your player's Level (the attacker) and the other player's Level (the defender). The General does not need to be deployed to gain SP. The actual amount of SP is in no way based on any turrets or buildings hit, and is only awarded if you destroy the HQ.

SP Boxes can be bought in the Store in quantities of 100, 1,000, and 5,000 SP as the Generals SP 100 (Platinum 4), Generals SP 1,000 (Platinum 30), and Generals SP 5,000 (Platinum 100). These boxes can also be won in Zoot's Loot.

The SP granted after a successful attack is calculated according to the formula

SP = max(1, ⎣10 sqrt([Defender's Level]/[Attacker's Level])⎦).

Early on the calculated level included the level boost from a player's Aurora-1 Shield Generator, but it does no longer. It is no longer beneficial to attack a player's main base then Aurora-1 base.

Formerly to get 20 SP, you had to win a battle against a player exactly 4× your level (e.g. find active Farms in your sector) and it was not possible to get more than 20 SP per victory, as the game did not let you attack a player that exceeds 4× your level. (There is a block in the "Feuds" list at much lower limit, but this is for online status and it can be ignored.) But as of 2013 April, the level attack cap is at 6×.

Low-level players have a relative advantage over high-level players since

  • Low-level players have fele players above with SP farms*.
  • Low-level players get a greater benefit relative to their Level. (EG: Add 150 slots of Warp Capacity at L11.)
  • High-level players are, for practical purposes, capped at a much lower SP per battle.
  • High-level players have few players above their Level, and those that are have more experience and better built Bases.
  • High-level players get a low benefit relative to their Level. (A L14 Warp Gate has 260 Slots (+ 150).)
  • It is better to win 10 SP (or more) by fighting someone above but nearer your own Level, using only one Warp, than to use two Warps (and thus have likely lost some or all your Troops) and get 19 or fewer SPs.

*SP farms are so new they are likely unintentional. They have either an excessively easy HQ or minimal defenses on a high level base. XP farms OTOH are not the same since they would have large resource collectors, supply depots, other buildings that provide lots of XP when destroyed, and preferably no Guns at all.

The newest thing would be the SX Farm where one could enjoy large amounts of SP and XP at the cost of the fewest Troops in the least amount of time.

The bonus damage is multiplied by unit transport size. A Shrike (size 2) would actually gain 20 bonus damage at L1 (with Gen. Strom). A Bomba (size 3) would actually gain 30 bonus damage at L1 (with Gen. Strom). The health bonus is mulitplied by transport size as well.

Our scouts have intercepted enemy transmissions about some new Tech approaching Cerulea IV.
